The Thinking of Homeland project is an international art collaboration created to benefit the Japanese Red Cross. Its mission is to raise funds to assist with the ongoing support needed in areas affected by the March 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster in Japan, through the sale of a limited edition collection of prints.


The organizers, graphic designer Kate Ferrucci of Quarto Design and Japanese illustrator Saeko, invited Japanese artists living outside of Japan to participate in the project. Twenty artists, who live in France, Germany, the UK and USA, donated an original artwork based on the theme ‘Thinking of Homeland’ for this collection. The talented artists include illustrators, painters, printmakers, photographers, sculptors and textile artists.

The complete set of 20 artworks is produced in a limited edition of 500 copies. The prints are housed in a ready-to-hang wooden frame, and can be shuffled to display a different print at any time.

「Thinking about Homeland : 祖国を想う」は日本赤十字への義援金を送る事を前提にはじめた、国際的なアートコラボレーションです。この作品の売り上げにより、2011年3月に日本で起こった東日本大震災、それに伴う津波と原発事故による被害者の方々への支えに少しでも役に立てばと考案しました。

この企画の発案者であるグラフィックデザイナーのケイト・フェルッチとイラストレーターの彩絵子が日本国外に住んでいる20人の日本人アーティストに声をかけて参加してもらいました。参加してくれたのはイラストレーション、絵画、版画、写真、彫刻やテキスタイルなど、様々な分野で才能を輝かせるアーティストです。

今回のプロジェクトのテーマ「Thinking about Homeland : 祖国を想う」を元に、オリジナル作品を提供していただきました。

20作品をセットにして、500部の限定版として制作しました。特製の木製枠に入れられ、お気に入りの絵を簡単に入れ替え壁にかけて飾る事ができます。
